Is radioactive iodine radiation dangerous to dogs?

I had radioactive iodine radiation treatment and I was told to stay away from small children and pregnant or feeding women. I have a 5 year old toy poodle and although the doctor's office said its okay to be around him, my spouse is concerned that it can be harmful to him.
