How should i ask a GUY out...(im a girl btw)?

I like this guy and im pretty sure he likes me back...But what I want to know is HOW SHOULD I ASK HIM OUT (if i wait for him, he will be to shy) I have PE with him and we joke around about stuff like SNL skits alot, we also talk in the hall but we never talk in private... ADVICE
